Valentine's Day: Easy and Quick Pink Half Cut Crease Makeup Tutorial

Hello everyone,

First I would like to thank you for all the love I received on my post yesterday. You have no idea how much your words mean to me. I was going through a really weird phase, felt unmotivated and disoriented. But thanks to all the love and support, I am feeling quite better today... ;)

So as promised, I am back with another Valentine’s Day special look, a dramatic pink half cut crease eye makeup that will surely make heads turn.

Cut crease eye makeup, if done right, will amp up your look in a wink. But we often find the method a little difficult to do. Cutting crease with a concealer, working with eye shadows in layers and the whole technique, the look does require a steady hand, time, patience and of course practice. Recently when I was doing this look, I tried a new method and it worked out pretty well. Trust me, my work was done in seconds and I my creases were beautifully cut.

I went for a simple half-cut crease this time, but you can opt for full cut-crease following the same method.

So lets begin :D

EYES:-
Like always, I did my eyes first; so that if there are fall outs, I can easily clean them off later.

Start by grooming your brows. Apply a skin colored eye shadow on all over the eye lid and brow bone to get rid of any oil residue on your lids.
Now take a pale pink colored eye shadow and apply on the crease. This is my first transition color. (I love packing colors, from lighter to darker. This way it is easy to blend the shades together and also gives an amazing gradient look.)
Then I took an hot pink colored eye shadow on my fluffy brush and start swiping to and fro on the crease, just where your socket line is, blending any harsh lines.
Now using your fingers or an eye shadow brush pack on some matte dark red eye shadow on the outer corner your eyes. Blend.
Pack on the colors again if you feel like.

Once you feel satisfied with the intensity and the gradient, grab your favorite liquid/gel liner and start lining your upper lash line. Wing it out for the extra drama.
Take a golden shimmery eye shadow on the same fluffy brush and go to and fro on your lower lash line. I skipped kohl for this look. But you can definitely apply if you want.
Apply loads of mascara to give length and volume to your lashes.
(Now, comes the fun part. This normally finishes my eye makeup. But when I looked into the mirror, after finishing this look, don’t know why, it felt incomplete; and then I thought how about doing a cut crease and adding some drama? I already had my mascara on and the problem of people with long lashes, whatever you try to do after applying your mascara, everything gets stuck on the lashes. Irritating as hell. So I just chucked my concealer and all and just went straight with a shimmery pink liquid liner complementing my eye makeup.)
I just carefully outlined the portion I want to have the ‘cut-creased’ effect and then filled it up. Then using my tip of my ring finger I patted on the portion where the pink liner meets my shadow, just to have a smoother gradient.
And that is it, you are done :D Phewww….
All my eye shadows are from Makeup Revolution 144 Eye shadow palette and Coastal Scents 252 Eye Shadow Palette. Liquid liner is good old Lakme Insta Liner, pink liquid eyeliner is Miss Claire Pearl Liquid Liner in 03 and mascara is L’Oreal Million Lashes. I did my brows using Benefit Ka Brow.

BASE:-
Clean off any fallout and apply moisturizer. Wait for 2-3 minutes, till the moisturizer gets absorbed into your skin, and then apply your favorite foundation all over the face, neck and blend well. You can use your fingers, brush or  a wet sponge as per your choice. Do correcting and concealing like you would usually do, under your eyes and on any discoloration on the face. My foundation is SephoraBrightening and Hydrating Foundation and corrector and concealer are all from Kryolan Derma Palette.

CHEEKS:-
This look calls for a light flush of pink on cheeks. So swirl your brush on a light pink blush, dust of excess and apply on the apple of your cheeks. You can also contour if you want, I generally avoid it. Finally apply highlighter on the high points of your face, you’re your cheek bones, the bridge of your nose, cupid’s bow. I love highlighting my chin as well. My blush is from Ben Nye Blush Palette and highlighter is Benefit CosmeticsHigh Beam Liquid Face Highlighter.

LIPS:-
My lip color here is a mixture of colors from ABH Lip Palette.

Hope you find this pictorial useful. Go out of the box, do try it and let me know J
Thank you again for the love, I am overwhelmed. What more can I ask for?
Lastly, wishing you all a very happy Valentine’s Day.  Stay blessed! Love you all.. J

Wet n Wild Rose in the Air Color Icon Eye Shadow Palette Review: Is it truly a Dupe of ABH Modern Renaissance?

Have you ever experienced the immense joy that one feels while stumbling upon a dupe of a famous product? If yes, then you can definitely understand how exactly I am feeling right now.

The product I am going to review today, Wet n Wild ‘Rose in the Air’ eye shadow palette, is said to be the ultimate dupe of the cult favorite Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. I so love good dupes; because most of the times, they are cheaper than the original ones, equally good or sometimes even better performing.
ABH’s Modern Renaissancepalette, with all the warm red and orange shades and amazing quality, had kind of revolutionized the whole beauty community. From then, brands all over the globe have been trying to replicate it. Some have been successful and some absolutely not.

Well, I already have the ABH palette and hence I didn’t feel the need of buying any other palette which is close to it. But when I saw the Wet n WildRose in the Air palette and how people were and are still going gaga over it, claiming that it is similar to the ABH one, I thought “Why not give it a try? It is just 4.99$ and I haven’t shopped anything for months :P ” … Me and my excuses!!

Anyway, so without wasting anytime further, lets get into the nitty-gritty details.

Price:-
$4.99
Rs.499
in Nykaa

Where to buy?
Nykaa, Wet n Wild,Ulta.

Shades:-The pallet is a mix of warm toned shades, from neutrals, warm oranges and browns to a pop of berry and mauve, the color palette looks amazing. This palette can easily be used to create both day and night time looks.

Texture:-

Buttery smooth, silk soft and blendable. The shimmers are non-chunky and have a beautiful satiny feel. Just the berry shade I find is a little dusty, kind of gritty when swirled with a brush on the palette. Rest are amazing.

Colour Payoff:-
The mattes performed amazingly well and much better than the shimmery ones, which I feel is great considering most of the shades in the palette are matte. But that doesn’t mean the shimmers don’t really show up. They have a good color payoff too, but the mattes, especially the berry and the warm browns and oranges, they hog all the limelight.

But one thing I noticed, the hand swatches needed less effort. When using on eyes, you have to work a bit more packing the colors. A primer beneath makes the process easier.

Comparing to Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance:-
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance has 14 colors and Wet n Wild Rose in the Air palette has 10. If you ignore this obvious difference, the shade selection of the Wet n Wild palette is spot on 99% similar to the ABH one.

Texture wise I find them very similar as well, just Love Letter of ABH is a tad bit smoother than the berry one in Wet n Wild. Pigmentation of both the palettes is incredible, but as I said, Wet n Wild needs a little more packing, which I don’t really feel is a problem. Also, when you start blending with a brush, I feel that the ABH one holds the intensity and vibrancy better. But the differences are nothing very huge. Staying power is again amazing for both the palettes.

(thanks for the pic Pam di)

Now lets see the side-by-side comparison

Final Thoughts:-
I was so super freaking pumped for this palette that I had to dig my brush in and play with it the moment I received it and oh boy, I was thoroughly impressed. Stunning colors, beautiful texture that is so easy to work with, insanely pigmented and long staying, totally bowled over. Moreover, taking about the dupe thing, I can’t believe how similar these shades look on the eyes. You wouldn't be able to tell that I used two different palettes for the look.

Would I recommend this to others?
Are you someone who doesn't have the ABH Modern Renaissance palette, but yet are fascinated by the colors and want to owe something in similar color scheme? Then this pallet is for you.
This palette provides great value for money.

Rating:-
4.5/5 J

So, are you thinking of buying the ABH Modern Renaissance palette, but still haven’t made up your mind whether to spend so much on it or not? Then don’t waste time. Grab this one before it goes out of stock. ;)

P.S Thank you Pamela Di for the picture and swatches of the ABH palette. I freaked out when i couldn't find mine, but you saved me :) Love you ...

WISESHE by Anamika CHEEK CONTOUR AND POWDER BRUSH Review

$

When I was small and papa used to bring me new brushes, the 'new brush fever' would last for days. I would play with them whole day, dipping in colours, splashing on the canvas. All grown up now, things haven't changed much. I still become a 3 year old kid whenever a new brush arrives.

Few days back, I received a“CHEEK CONTOUR AND POWDER” BRUSH from Anamika, which is a new launch by WISESHE. Anamika, the women behind Wiseshe, one of India’s top beauty blogs, launched her own line of makeup tools with a set of oval brushes last year, which were loved and became widely popular and now it is time for the Cheek Contour and Powder brush.

As many of you know, I started my career in blogging as a writer with WISESHE. It was on my birthday in June 2013 that my first article got published and since then there was no looking back. Anamika and Wiseshe members have stood by me through my thick and thin. So this brush and the post, both are very close to my heart.
Bear with me as it is a long one and with plenty of pictures.

First, lets see what Anamika has to say about her baby:-

WISESHE CHEEK, CONTOUR & POWDER BRUSH is made of synthetic bristles. Great for natural look, light medium coverage & more precise application. The brush is designed in a way, it can be used for both cream and powder products.”

My Experience with WISESHE CHEEK CONTOUR AND POWDER BRUSH:-

HE LOOK AND THE FEEL:-

The brush comes in a chic, slender box which itself is very sturdy and protects the brush from any outside damages and dust. The velvet cushion which is inside the box, besides looking sophisticated and sexy, provides more protection to the brush and makes sure that the bristles don’t take any hit even while travelling.

Coming to the brush, the brush looks and feels ‘oh so amazing’. It is designed ergonomically, is light weight, handy and the spherically wound down handle is perfect, making it easy to work with even in a hurry.

But you know what the best part is? It is the feel of the brush on my cheeks, just like a gentle caress of the cool wind on a hot sultry day, like the first rays of sun tickling you on a lovely spring morning. Wow...I am quite a poet today.

Anyway, coming back to the real world, the brush is so luxuriously soft; I wonder if I have ever used a brush which feels as soft as this. The bristles are made of synthetic hair, are really fine and densely packed. The problem I have faced before with synthetic brushes is that they have this weird, nylon’y kind of feel to them and tend to become hard, scratchy and pokey after a while. But, this feels so beautiful. I just can’t stop swirling this on my cheeks. Also, I love how the tapered edges help me to go into the nooks and creases of my face and also aid in precise color application.

USAGE:-
This brush can supposedly work with both powder and cream products.

Powder based products:-Being a big fluffy brush, it does its job as a powder brush amazingly well. The tapered shape of the bristles makes it easy for me to apply powder under my eyes and at the same time the fluffy part helps to dust the powder all over my face, set the base and even out the look. I find this absolutely perfect to apply blush, to do contouring and sweeping highlight along the cheekbones and on other high points of the face as well.

Cream Based Products:- Fluffy brushes to blend cream based makeup? I was apprehensive. But oh boy, I was super impressed. Yes, it needed a little effort, but the finish it gave was absolutely brilliant. I used a heavy cream foundation. At first it felt streaky but I continued to blend and soon the products melted well into my skin. The soft, fluffy bristles buffed away everything to give way to a smooth, even canvas. My base looked more natural and had a lovely ‘airbrush’ finish.

I personally love using this with powder products, like to set my makeup, add warmth to my face, and blend out any harsh edges as it gives a sheerer, diffused application that isn’t heavy or appears cakey. I find that this combination of tapping and buffing motions work well in achieving a super flawless base.

CLEANING:-
The brush doesn't hold products if buffed well, so it is basically very easy to wash. Just pour some brush cleaner (I use my homemade one) on your palm or brush cleaning pad, and swirl your brush on it. I haven’t experienced any shedding while running my hands through it, nor while or after washing it. It didn't lose the shape either.

FINAL THOUGHTS:-
Finding a good brush in India is a task. I longed for a good powder brush and thank god I waited for the best and got this beauty. The brush looks so stylish, love the shape , size and the texture of it. You can use it to set makeup by buffing away loose powder and works amazingly well as a blush and contour brush too. Be it powder or cream based products, it picks up the right amount of pigments and blends them beautifully. It
doesn't absorb much product, but rather allow you to lay downas much product as you picked up, leading to no unnecessary wastage, which i feel is amazing. It doesn't shed as well after washing. I'm so impressed.

At a glance:-
Brand Name and The Woman Behind:-Wiseshe, Anamika Sureka.
Product Name:- WISESHE CHEEK CONTOUR AND POWDER BRUSH
Price:- Rs. 700/-. You can buy on Amazon at Rs. 550/-
From Where to buy:Amazon
Things to love: A high quality makeup brush that works amazingly well and is reasonably priced too.

Things to not love: We were made to wait too long for this beauty :P

Would I recommend this brush to others?
Yes, I would definitely recommend this to everyone, especially who are new to the whole makeup scenario and don’t want to shell out large amount of money in buying different brushes. This could definitely be your one brush solution for your base.

RATING:-
5/5. This is a winner..  :)

So have you used this or any other Wiseshe brushes? Let us know in the comments J

P.S. I know I was approached by the brand for reviewing this product, I know I love Wiseshe and Anamika, but this review is 100% genuine and unbiased. Give the brush a try, you will understand.

L'oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara in Blackest Black Review, Swatches and Before-After Photos

Hello everyone,

Today I’ll be reviewing a mascara that I have been using quite often these days. It is L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara. For me, a good mascara is basically the holy grail of all make-up products. It's the one thing I'll wear on days where I really don’t feel like wearing any makeup at all.

L’Oreal is known for their amazing range of mascaras with fabulous formulations. I have tried many and this is my newest addition.
So lets see if this one, like it’s other L’Oreal sisters, could impress me or not!

Lets start with the Packaging:-
A no-fuss black tube with a pink metallic cap which comes housed in a normal mascara . The brush is a flexible one with a conical shape, making it easier to cover those hard to reach lashes.

Price:-
$8
Available in Amazon India at a whooping 1800 INR
L

My experience with the L'oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara in Blackest Black:-
I love my mascara jet black and wet; Miss Manga scores a 10/10 if you take these two factors in account. I have picked “Blackest Black” and the color is truly the blackest of blacks.

The consistency is pretty good, more on the wetter side, just the way I love. The flexible wand makes it easy to wriggle and the mascara grabs, lengthens and volumizes the lashes beautifully.

Many beauty enthusiasts have complained about the inefficiency of the flexible brush. While I didn’t face any problem due to the flexibility of the wand, I just didn’t like the bristles. They pull out product much more than what is needed; the bristles kind of suck in the product making it difficult to wipe off the excess and resulting in clumpy lashes. May be due to this reason layering becomes a pain, no matter how short or long your lashes are. Layering makes it clump galore and you will end my having spider legs. Also, as it has a flexible wand, you can't put any pressure on the clumpy lashes to separate them, so I just simple avoid layering. See the picture and you’ll know ;)

So what I do is, carefully put the right amount, wiggle and comb through a bit, wait for a few seconds to let the thing dry, comb through with a clean brush and then go back and repeat gently; that’s how you can get the best out of this mascara. It won’t clump that way. But this process takes time so this mascara is not good for layering when you are in rush.

I wore this for 14 hours at a stretch, and I didn’t face any smudging or flaking problems, it held the curl pretty well too. The formula is semi-waterproof, so it washes off easily with the help of regular face wash/cleansers. No need to soak your lashes in makeup remover or oil at the end of day, no need of rubbing and harming your lashes.

Summing up my Likes and Dislikes-
What I LIKED about L'oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara:-
  • Jet black color.
  • My lashes looked curlier, longer and thicker in seconds.
  • Flexible wand helps in wiggling.
  • Well pigmented.
  • Creamy consistency, more on the wetter side.
  • Stays intact until you remove it with cleanser.
  • No smudging or flaking issues.
  • Semi water proof formula.
  • Can be removed without much effort.

What I Don’t LIKE about L'oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara:-
  • Layering is a task.
  • Pricey in India.
  • Not easily available in India.
  • The wand and bristles don’t help in separating the lashes well.

FINAL THOUGHTS:-
I love how this mascara lifts, curls while adding amazing volume and length in just a few swipes. But hate how lashes stick together when I start layering and it becomes too hard to separate. To avoid the clump, you have to be really patient. Thus It is definitely not one to use on the go or if you're in a rush. But if you wear it properly, you will love the drama. I love it when it doesn't create spider legs, absolutely amazing.

The wand is tricky, but once you get the hang of it, you won’t have a problem. What I like most is how easily it comes off with a simple cleanser without any struggle.
Overall I am pretty much loving it. You just have to be patient with this baby and it won't let you down :)

Easy Gold and Black Spotlight / Halo Smokey Eyes: Tutorial with Step by Step Pictures

Hello everyone,
Spotlight smoky eye look, this is my current love. I have tried them in innumerable shade combinations and today I am here with my favorite brown-black-gold combo. I am kind of obsessed with golden eye shadows and I feel that no Indian festive or traditional makeup is complete without a touch of gold on eyes. This is a very glamorous, sophisticated makeup look.

I want everyone to feel amazing, look beautiful and their best selves always. So I try to come up with these tutorials, all in the hopes of making the beautiful you even more beautiful.
So without wasting anytime further, grab your eye shadows, your brushes and lets get glam together.

EYES:-

Like always, I did my eyes first. So in case there are fallout, I can easily clean them off before doing the base.
Apply a wash of skin colored eye shadow all over your lid and brow bone. This is just to create a canvas and ensure that there is no oil residue on your eyes.
Now take a brown colored eye shadow and go to and from over the crease following the crease line to the inner corner of eye. This is your transition shade.
After the transition color take a darker brown on the same brush and just buff on the socket line.
Now take a blackish brown eye shadow on a brush and pack the color on the inner and outer corners of eyes. With a fluffy brush blend well. Make sure there are no harsh lines in between the colors. Use very light feathery strokes.

Once everything is nice and blended, take a small flat brush and a concealer. You just have to carefully curve the center of your lid out. Press the brush on the center of the socket line and drag it down. This is one of the steps where you will feel that ‘oh my God this is so messy’. Don’t worry, you are going to be fine.
Now taking a golden shimmer on the flat brush, just carefully pat on top of the concealer. Blend the edges (where the golden meets the blackish brown on the side).
On the far top edge, i.e on the socket line, apply glitter or just a glittery liquid liner. Just follow the socket line and your eye shape. Don’t go all over, just on the edge of the concealer part.  I opened my eyes before it got dried, so my liner smudged a bit. Be careful with yours.
Now take your gel/liquid liner and line your upper lash line, extending the corner in a baby wing.
Line your waterline with kohl. Take some dark brown eye shadow on a smudger brush and smudge the kohl, the smokier, the better.
Finally, round off your eye makeup with coats of your favorite mascara. You can apply false lashes as well.

My eye shadows are from Morphe 25A palette, the glitter liner is MissClaire Pearl Liner in Gold 08, liquid liner is good old Lakme Insta Liner and mascara is L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga.

BASE:-
Clean off fallouts.
Apply a moisturizer and also don’t forget your sunscreen if you are going out in the sun.
Apply dots of your favorite foundation all over the face and blend with a sponge, brush or fingers. I prefer a wet sponge as this will give a dewy finish. Apply corrector and concealer under your eyes and on any discoloration on the face. My foundation, corrector, concealer everything is from Kryolan Derma Palette.

CHEEKS:-
Contour and apply a warm peachy blush on the cheeks and also your favorite highlighter on your cheek bones, cupid’s bow and nose bridge. I generally skip highlighter on my cupid’s bow, but apply lightly on my chin. Blush and Contour Powderis fromBen Nye Blush palette. Highlighter is Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter.

LIPS:-
What else can complement this eye makeup other than red lips? But instead of true red I went for a burgundy one. It is
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick Cherry Skies.

So thats it. Very simple and easy and do. Do let me know if you recreate.

Lastly, I am truly overwhelmed with the response I received on my teaser post. Your words mean a lot. You all keep me going. Thank you for all the love and support.

The Blushing Bride: Shreya Kundu

Do you know the feeling, the positive vibe you get when you see a couple so deeply in love with? There is something in the way they look at each other, when words could never really match the things that their eyes speak.

Today in “Blushing Bride”, we have such a lovely couple. The super cute bride, Shreya Kundu, is here with us to give a glimpse of her wedding and going through her pages of life I do believe that fairy tale exists.

How did you guys meet?
“Well, it was year in the year 2008. After my Madhyamik exam, one of my close friends influenced me to open an account in Orkut. On that time there was no trace of Facebook. I opened a fake profile in Orkut, named Megha Kundu, a second student of chemistry hons in Presidency (as there was a clause that if you are below 18 you cannot open an account in Orkut). Then, I searched for my cousin brother Soumya and messaged him. Next day when I checked for reply, I found that I did a terrible mistake because I sent that message to a different person bearing the same name. This guy was not my brother. But he wrote an interesting scrap. I liked his reply so much, so kept on messaging. Then one day I called him, and disclosed my original identity. He was a bit disappointed because he was almost 7 yrs older than me.
But still we were in touch. First we talked little, but he talked so nicely I couldn't resist myself from not talking to him. Gradually we started talking a lot, about movies, sports, food and every detail of our daily life. That time I really started to enjoy his company. That time he used to work and I was in school. Funny na!! Anyway, he always inspired me in studies, in different activities.
In between one day we planned to meet. It was a big deal to me, like I only knew him through a social networking site. But that time we used to talk a lot over the phone. So I thought it is okay to meet him face to face. Then one fine evening we decided to meet in a restaurant, it was raining outside. I won't lie, may be on that date I felt something for him. And l could read his eyes also, the way he was staring at me full of wonder and love. That day after returning home he called me but didn't say a single word, neither me. We didn't say each other anything but both of us fell in love with each other. And silently we knew it.
I always did mistakes and still do. But he always protected me.  I am a very talkative person but he never got bored of listening to my rubbish. I always found a comfort zone, a humble and caring nature. In 2010, first day of the year he proposed me in a filmy way.. And I didn't take time to accept his offer to stay together for the rest of our life. Funny story right?!”

So how long did you get to plan your entire wedding?
“Due to my father's illness, my family wanted to get me married early. So I got married in my final semester of engineering. Though the date was finalized one year before, still I remained very busy that time, with my studies, assignments, projects and industrial training. Thanks to my family members of both sides, they took the entire responsibility of shopping and all other preparations. But in between whenever I got time, I joined them. When I couldn't, every time they asked me before finalizing the things like invitation cards, saree and all.. But really, sometimes I think like if I could get another chance to get married, I will plan everything again all by myself.”

Tell us something about where you got your outfits and accessories, both wedding and reception?

“I got my wedding Benarashi from Priyo Gopal Bisoyee, Barabazar. It is beautiful magenta coloured Benarashiwith all over meenakari work. Actually when I was a kid, one of my very close aunties told me to wear Magenta colored Benarashi on my wedding. Frankly speaking, somehow these words were stuck in my mind and I just decided to buy a magenta coloured Benarashi. And I loved it. All my wedding jewellery belonged to my mother. These are heirloom gold jewellery passed to my Maa by my grandparents and great grandparents. Personally I don't like to wear lots of gold jewellery and wanted to wear costume jewellery like Sanandita di. But my mother emotionally blackmailed me, so I was kind of forced to wear them. But now I think I was looking good in those.

For ‘Gaye Holud’, I draped a yellow saree, to go with the ritual more perfectly. It came from Groom's side. And I wore some light gold jewellery of my mother.

For my reception, I got my saree from Adi Mohoni Mohon Kanjilal. It is a royal blue Benarashi full of zardousi work. Basically I wanted to wear a lehenga. But my mother in law didn't agree with that. Then my designer rescued me with his intelligence. He made a parrot green silk lehenga on which I draped my Benarashi. He designed a contrast blouse to go with it too. His name is Raj Bannerjee and I must admit that the guy is awesome.

On my reception day I didn't wear any gold jewellery except a few on hands. I went for costume jewellery in kundan work from Chique Fashion jewellery, South city Mall."

Where did you get your makeup and hair done?
“Both of my wedding and reception make-up and hair were done by Arpita Roy. I am very much satisfied with her work. I always wanted to look the most beautiful woman on my D-day. And seriously, on that day, I was the center of attraction.”

Tell us something about your photographer?
“My wedding photography was covered by Fotosutra- Prasanta Sinha Photography. I must say, he and his team seriously know how to create magic. Except the time of group photos, I couldn't see them around me. But at the time of delivery, they gave us more than a thousand of wonderful photos. All are very lively, fresh and lots of candid moments. I just wondered when and how did they took such beautiful photos. Not only that, they are very friendly, easily mixed up with our family and everyone started to like them.

Even after 3 years of marriage, still people talk about them and their photography. Everyone appreciated their efforts and energetic nature. But my experience with videographer was pathetic. That time Fotosutra used to do only still photography, not videography. So we hired Nany's Photographyfor video. But what they delivered was horrible.”

Any special moment you want to share with us?
Though there are a lot, I would want to share one of them in particular. On the day of wedding our lawyer came for registration and said that it must be done prior to the religious wedding. Though the older people opposed saying that it's not possible, groom can’t see the bride before Subhodristi. While people were arguing about this, Soumya became impatient to see me. Finally our guardians decided to do the registry first. When Soumya entered the room, the way he stared at me, I felt like a queen or may be a Goddess. And all the time he couldn't resist himself from staring at me.

After "Sindur daan" when he got the chance to sit beside me, he whispered, “When I saw you, my heart skipped a beat, now you are my sweet wife'. I will always remember these."

Any advice you want to give to all the readers out there?
“We all have a childhood dream, that when we will be in love everything will go as smooth as silk. But the reality is marriage requires a lot of adjustments. But if you have good understanding with your spouse, everything will be fine. From my experience I can say, the day I got married, I felt like a new journey started. And though I knew him for more than 6 years, still from that day I started to know him as a whole new person. Enjoy every ritual. Personally I find Bengali marriage rituals to be very romantic.

Don't get over-stressed. Stay hydrated. Don't forget to book your favorite makeup artist and a good photographer well in advance. Don't leave anything for the last moment. Try to eat lots of fruits and water, at least on the last 3 months of your marriage; you will look glowy and fresh.
Just go with the flow. Take lots of pictures. Spend time with your family. Always remember it's your day. So don't forget to smile and blush.”

DeckandDine says:-
This is such a sweet love story Shreya. I am totally awed. You look amazing on all the occasions and yes, like a Queen on your D-Day. Arpita Roy did a splendid job. I love how subtle, yet glamorous the makeup was. And I am absolutely stunned seeing the pictures Prasanta Da and his team captured. Couldn't stop myself from staring at them and I wish I could have attached more pictures. You made such a pretty bride and what I loved most about you is, there was not one moment where I saw your face without a smile or a blush. Lovely J

I know that time flies and things change, but I also know that your love for each other would stay unchangeable. Lots of love and best wishes. And I am sure he'll always be ready with a handkerchief whenever he'll see a pearl drop shining on the corner of your eye, just like this.

Time for a few more pictures ...

Being a gold and brown eye shadow lover, this pallet seemed to be Heaven for me. The pallet kept on luring me and haunting me in my dreams. The gold, coppers and browns in the palette looked so regal and I couldn’t stop myself from purchasing it.

Morphe is a brand that keeps on wowing me with their amazing range of products. So could this one wow me too?

Lets see…

PACKAGING:-
The 25 eye shadows come housed in a sleek square, non-fussy black palette with a transparent lid. The palette further comes housed inside a black cardboard box where the ingredients and pallet name mentioned on the back. I was foolish enough to throw away the outer box and result is the scratches on the transparent lid.

PRICE:-$18.
You can buy from Instagram Seller for 1700-2000. (Click HERE to see the list of genuine Instagram Sellers)

SHADES:-
The palette features 25 colours: 16 matte and 9 shimmer eye shadows.

Ember: An intense sunset toned copper in a metallic finish.

Row 5:
Brass: A dark rusty rose gold kind of a color in metallic finish
Just Shadow: A cool dark shimmery brown
Suede: A deep reddish chocolate brown with golden specks
Destination: A sultry matte blackened brown
Unveil: A sophisticate matte black.
(The last two shades are great for smoking out the corners)

TEXTURE, COLOR PAYOFF and STAYING POWER:-
Most of the eye shadows are smooth and blends like dream. The metallic shades are gorgeous, poppy and doesn’t feel gritty or chunky, they are finely milled, tightly packed and don’t fall out. The matte shades, except the first three on top row, are soft and smooth as well and doesn’t feel powdery or chalky. They are incredibly pigmented and stayed on me for more than 10 hours without fading or creasing a bit.

However, the first three matte eye shadows I felt are a bit chalky and hence go dusty. They lack the desired pigmentation too.

So SUMMING UP MY LIKES AND DISLIKES:-

What I LIKED about Morphe 25A Copper Spice Eye Shadow Palette:-

  • Gorgeous shades.
  • Soft and Smooth texture.
  • The metallic ones are finely milled and don’t feel gritty.
  • The matte ones are smooth and non-chalky.
  • Most of the shades are incredibly pigmented.
  • Stays long.
  • Don’t fade or crease.
  • No fuss packaging. A sleek palette, so won’t take a lot of room when travelling with it.
  • Reasonable.

What I Don’t LIKE about Morphe 25A Copper Spice Eye Shadow Palette:-

  • Non-availability in India. Why?? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?
(However, if you want to see how to get your hands on this beauty in India, click HEREand HERE)
  • Some are just a little darker-lighter shade of the same color. So people might find the colors repetitive.
  • The texture of  the light matte shades could have been better.

FINAL THOUGHTS:-
How can one go wrong with something named copper? This is a stunning palette where the metallic eye shadows are definitely the stars of the show. The matte ones except 2-3 are impressive as well and complement the metallic shadows beautifully. You can make a dramatic as well as a subtle look using the colors. Different textures and finishes of the eye shadows give you the freedom to play; you can go for just matte look or a little pop of shimmer or even a full blown dramatic metallic look. This pallet is great for any skin tone, whether you are fair, tanned, medium or deep skin toned, all of these colors will look beautiful on every single person. This palette is absolutely breathtaking and perfect for anyone who loves browns, coppers and gold tones. An absolute value for money.

RESTAURANT REVIEW: Baccara Club Lounge, Kolkata

It’s very infrequent that an eatery checks almost all the boxes, especially mine. So when i find a restaurant that does, it is obvously very satisfying. It was an early evening visit for me, i wanted to see for myself whether all the hoopla about 'BACCARA Club Lounge' was true of not.

What struck me as very insightful on the owners part was the application of a themed restaurant concept, or to be honest. A multi themed concept. The themes are well thought out and very well implemented. The location is is very convenient too.  Its at at very sweet spot bang on Ashutosh Mukherjee Road, walking distance fromExide more/ Metro station,Forum Mall, and very easily locatable by cabs too.

THE THEMES/AREAS:
The ground floor is a modern, art, casual, family dining area, with warm and fresh appeal. The artwork on the walls make the area look contemporary and upbeat. The flight of stairs to the first floor feels like an emirates or qatar airways flight. It literally transports you to a mid-eastern desert cabana sans the sand and hot breeze. The cabanas themselves are pretty cozy and comfortable. The colour scheme is predominantly red based and coupled with the lighting and music and the hookahs, this floor gets one totally transfixed. The second floor has a more corporate vibe to it. It is a work in progress, and i am sure that it will be a blast once its ready.

THE FOOD

PERI PERI CHICKEN:
The meat was very well marinated, and he flavor was a mouthful. Our host mentioned that special care is taken so that meat kept its moisture and yet didn’t feel under seasoned. The reddish colour of the meat highlighted the ravishing flavor of the dish.

JUJHE KEBAB
:
Once again chunky pieces of meat cooked to perfection. Lime was the dominant flavor of this dish and the taste was very well balanced by the chutney. Super thumbs up.

CHEESY VEG RANGOON:
This once again was great, the wrapping was thin, the three cheese filling was sumptuous and they were fried to perfection. The downside however was the sauce served along with, its was too tangy and cut through the creamy after taste of the cheese.

PHILADELPHIA STUFFED MUSHROOM: One of the best mushroom dishes I have had till date. As withall their dishes, the seasoning and coking was spot on. The cheese was good and complemented the other flavors of the dish.

CHICKEN MALAIWALA WITH NAAN:
Lived up to its name, it oozed malai from all corners. The flavours were delicate,t he bread was perfectly done, crispy brown on top, soft white on the inside. If we hadn’t ordered this last, i could have atleast 5 platefuls. The best part was the gravy, it was not over spiced, very finely balanced and very smooth too.

THE BEVERAGES:

KITKAT SHAKE:
It had a lot of kit kat and was really well shaken. It was literally loaded with kitkat, the flavor was predominantly chocolaty, i would have liked a hint of salted caramel, but that’s just me. In my opinion they should have added whipped cream instead of ice cream. It was an excellent cooler and pretty heavy to. Even when we drank it after a while, it didn’t feel mushy as wafer based shakes tend to feel.

PO RIVER BLUE:
This drink took me back to my college summer afternoons when our best companions were ice slurry drinks. The blue curacao flavor was sumptuously added, the sliced mandarin peel lent a nice contrast and there were finely diced cherries in the drink that gives one something to chew upon.

WATERMELON MOJITO:
This is one of the most common drinks around, yet they added a bit of their own flavor to it.  It was amazingly refreshing.

THE HOOKAS:
One word answer : GRAND.  They are beautiful and just ooze grandeur. There are some modern ones too with a touch of LED technology, but the traditional ones look the best.

As I said in the beginning, its not very often that a restaurant checks most boxes, but I can assure you that BACCARA Club Lounge does. When you eat their food, you feel that effort and attention they have given to the what they serve you. The service was warm, the staff was very helpful and took care of every small request we had . It’s a 4.5 stars from my side. Overall it was a very good evening at BACCARA Club Lounge, do visit this place. The staff, the food and drinks and hookah are worth every penny, and the ambience was a great plus. I will be re-visiting soon….see you guys too.

Poila Baishak 1425 Morning Look: Makeup and Styling

$

Harking back to the days of yore in the quaint old Havelis ofNorth Kolkata where ladies draped their Dhakai Jamdanisin"Shabeki" or traditional Bengali style , accompanied with full or three-quartered sleeve ruffled blouses and ornate gold jewellery. Today, through my post here I am just trying to humbly represent that era; that era when the novels ofTagore or Sarat Chandra Chattopadhay were brimming with strong and liberated women, who brought inthe first ray offeminism, and were considered as the most emancipated in their society.

Poila Baishak or Durga Puja away from home feels morbid, feels wrong, very very disheartening, depressing and aberrant. Only someone who lives far away from his/her family would truly understand what it means to be with them during times of celebrations.

While I will be stuck here, sitting on my butt all day doing nothing, probably crying and screaming my heart out all alone in this house and cursing my life even more seeing you all upload pictures of your Poila Baishaklooks and yummy poila boishak special dishes.
But no, as I write this, I promise myself not to waste the day and put my best Bong fashion foot forward and roam about on the streets of Varanasi.
Sounds paradoxical? Great…Let it be! This is what I’ll be looking like and will probably be happy.

For the look on Poila Baishak I couln’t think of anything else other than a saree, other than a Dhakai Jamdani saree. I gave the traditional Bengali ‘white and red’ saree a break and instead went for a sea green Dhakai jamdanisareewith white and light yellow thread-work paired with a lightyellow ruffled blouse. There are two reasons for choosing this saree, firstly, the color combination is very soothing and apt for the sultry hot weather; and secondly, this is the only saree I have with me right now.

SAREE:-
The traditional way of wearing ‘Atpoure’ saree is without pleats, where the saree is wrapped around in an anti-clockwise direction around the waist and then a second time from the other direction. The loose end is a lot longer and that goes around the body over the left shoulder and then the end on the right. There is also enough cloth left to cover the head. But today I went for pleats, simply because the traditional ‘atpoure’ style isn’t my cup of tea and I only know how to don the ‘atpoure’ style with pleats.

To nail that perfect Bengali look, I went for a quarter-sleeved yellow blouse with white laced frills. It was made by my mother-in-law in half a day. I wish I had a fraction of the talent that my two mothers have. I have never worn a ruffle blouse and now I regret why!

MAKEUP:-

My makeup here is uber simple. I went for a neutral makeup which is glamorous without being too dramatic, polished yet not made up.
I have just applied a moisturiser and a BB cream as the base. Skipped concealing (hence the panda eyes). You can go for foundation as per your choice and do correcting and concealing as well. As this is a day look and I am in a weird hot and sultry place with sudden rains, I skipped them. I just lightly dusted my Ben Nye Fair Powder on my T-zone.

For eyes, on my lids I applied a shimmery champagne color which had hints of rose gold and spread it really well with fingers. Now on a fluffy brush, took some brown and patted on the outer corners and went to and fro on the crease. With a black liquid liner I lined my upper lash line, winging it at the corners. Applied kohl on the waterline and using the same liquid liner, following my eye shape, I drew a line just below the kohl. This is weird, but gives a stunning bold, sharp look. I have tried doing this with gel liners, but could never achieve the intensity.

Light pink blush on cheeks and a peachy nude color on lips. Blush is from Ben Nye palette and lipcolor is The Body Shop Nairobi Camilla.

ACCESSORIES:-
I opted for minimal accessories. The earrings are exclusive handcrafted composite turquoise gemstone earrings with pearl drops. I received this as a PR product and I am so in love with it.

The bangle on my right hand is a simple gold one, a gift from darling mother-in-law. Ohh!! A kamarbandh too just to keep the saree from acting weird.

NAILS:-
I did my mani keeping the saree in mind. I perky yellow nail polish on all the nails except the ring finger and on that one a pastel turquoise blue to go with the saree.

This completes my look for the upcoming event. Hope you all like it.... :)

Behind the sceness ;)
Wishing you all love, health and peace in this New Year.

Best and Worst of Kiko Milano

Hello everyone,

As you all know, Nykaa has finally launched KIKO MILANO today. KIKO MILANO is a leading Italian brand that has an amazing range of cosmetics, makeup and skin care products. The brand is known for their exotic beauty products at a drugstore price tag. Sounds pretty alluring. Right?
But, Alas! In India the products are not very cheap. Nevermind, we can always indulge in one or two, once a while.
I have been getting too many enquires about their best sellers.

So without wasting anytime, lets discover the selection of un-missable beauty products from the house of KIKO MILANO
:)]

YAYs:-

Kiko Milano BLUSHES:-
Price:
Starts from INR 790
Beautiful colors, amazing textures and long staying. Blushes were my first ever KIKO purchase and I fell in love at the first swatch.

Kiko Milano Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow:-
Price:- INR800
Available in 19 stunning colors. One of the best stick eye shadows I ever used. Fabulous colors, creamy texture, easy to apply and settles in gorgeous matte finish. The eye shadows are easily blendable, but as they set relatively quickly you have to smudge them before they get completely dry. Absolute love!

Kiko Milano Full Coverage Concealer
Price:- INR 850.
A heavy-duty concealer that is creamy, non-greasy, easy to apply and blendable and covers scars and marks beautifully. If blended properly, it looks natural and stays put for the entire day. There are 8 shades available in India.
Kiko Milano New Unlimited Stylo Lipsticks:-
Price: INR 1050
I love this range. Stunning colors, creamy texture, glides beautifully, comfortable and polished semi-matte finish (though they look full matte on me), incredibly pigmented and long staying. What more can I ask from a range of lipsticks? But prep your lips well before applying, otherwise they might accentuate dry patches and appear flaky.

Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow:-
Price:-
INR 1050.
This range is again pure love. Expensive, but oh so gorgeous! My favourite is 208 Light Gold. Such a stunning color and amazing texture. You can use it wet or dry, can wear it as an eye shadow and even as a highlighter; a close dupe of  Mac Oh Darling  and Mac Whisper of Guilt highlighter. Their Long Lasting Wet & Dry Use Eyeshadows are good as well.

Kiko Milano Eyebrow Fibers Coloured Mascara:-
Price:
INR 800
It does its job of grooming eye brows pretty well. The brows look naturally thicker and more polished and keeps eye brow in place all day. However, only a single shade is available in India right now. Though it will go with Indian skin tone pretty nicely, however, a few more shades won’t hurt. There is a clear eye brow gel, which is amazing too. Check it out HERE.

Kiko Milano Smart Fusion Lip Pencil:-
Price:
INR 290
I love this range because of the texture. They are neither too creamy that will break with slightest of pressures, nor are they too hard that will tug your lips and result in uneven application. The texture is so perfect. Beautiful colors, perfect texture, goes on like breeze and well pigmented. The range has some crazy MAC lip liner dupes. For ex, 533 in Kiko is a dupe of MAC Whirl.

NAIL POLISHES:-
There is an amazing selection of different nail polishes with different finishes. Can be given a try.

Flawless Fusion Powder Bronzer:-
Price: INR 1250
It has a velvety texture with a polished matte finish. The bronzer is sans simmers and gives a very natural sun-kissed look. There is a dearth of good bronzers in India and I am sure this is going to

MEHs:-

Kiko Milano Unlimited Foundation:-
Price:-
INR1700
It is supposed to be a hydrating foundation, but it felt so drying, looked cakey and was very hard to blend. Don’t buy without swatching them.

Glow Touch Lips & Cheeks:-
This never worked on me. Excessively drying on lips and weirdly sticky on cheeks.

Single Color EyeShadows:-
Some of them are too glittery, chunky, some of them are dry, some goes patchy, some of them have crazy fallouts and some have poor pigmentation. It is better to stay away from the range.

Brushes:-
I am not a fan of Kiko brushes. They feel hard, pokey and also shed from the first wash.

So if possible, stay away from the above four Mehs.

Hope this post helps you in deciding and finalizing your stuff. Nykaa is also giving a free lipstick worth Rs.390 on purchase of KIKO Milano products worth Rs.899 and above. So hurry. Offer valid till stock lasts… J

GET THE LOOK: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Cannes 2018 Glitter Wing Liner

$

I never, in my wildest of dreams, have ever thought that one day I’ll be crushing over Aiswarya Rai. Though considered world’s one of the most beautiful women, she never really wowed me; until in 2014, when she not only wowed me, but the whole world with her dazzling appearance in gold at Cannes Film Festival 2014. From then I eagerly wait for her Cannes appearances and recreating her looks is what I love.
The thing I like most about this woman is that she never shies away from experimenting. She gives a damn to all the raised brows and carries herself like the bombshell that she is. To me, she is the queen of red carpets and I just can’t stop admiring her.
This year, as most of you know, she ‘blew’ everyone’s mind with the stunning butterfly pattern inspired Michael Cinco mermaid gown with a 3-metre train on her first day at the Cannes, complementing the gown she did a glitter winged liner look, owing and slaying the red carpet as always.

Today I am here with an inspired version of this makeup. I wouldn’t say this as an exact recreation. I did little changes to suit myself. Moreover, I was confused about the look, whether she had a subtle smokey or a wash of satiny orange on lids; but the one thing I was sure of was the dramatic ‘sequined’ wing. It stole the show ;)

So let’s begin..

EYES:-

I always do eyes first, so that if there are fallouts, I can easily clean them off. I started by grooming my eyebrows and applying a wash of skin colored eye shadow all over my lid, crease and brow bone to get rid of any oil residue. I took a fluffy brush and applied a wash of warm brown on my crease. Then taking a flat eye shadow brush I patted a satiny warm copper on my lid and then blended it well with the same fluffy brush. I took some dark brown on the fluffy brush and applied it on the outer corners to add a little depth. This step is optional though. I highlighted my brow bone and inner duct area with a shimmery ice gold shade. Now comes the most crucial part of the eye makeup, the wing. Using a black liquid liner I started tracing the wing and then finally filling it out.

I didn’t go for a bold wing like Aishwarya, however you can always opt for one. After my wings were done I took some lash glue and applied it over the wing. I let the glue dry a little and then started to gently place the blue glitters on it. This is the most annoying step for a impatient person like me. The glitters pissed me off, really. They took years to set; some stuck, some didn’t, some had their own life and moved all over my face. Anyway, after the glitters were set, I moved on to my lower lash line. Lined my waterline with black kohl and with the same fluffy brush dusted some copper eye shadow on my lower lash line. Finally, applied falsies and mascara to finish off my look.

BASE:-
Cleaned off fallouts, picked and threw the glitters and then applied moisturizer. Then dotted my favorite foundation all over the face and blended well with a wet sponge, this gives a dewy finish. Did subtle correcting and concealing. My foundation is from Cinema Secrets and corrector and concealer are all from Ben Nye

CHEEKS:-
Applied a coral colored blush on the cheeks and also highlighter on my cheek bones and the bridge of nose and a little on my chin. Forgot to contour L
My blush is from Ben NyeBlush Palette and highlighter is Wispby Colourpop.

LIPS:-
A mixture of MAC Lady Danger and NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Kitten Heels.

Well, this is it. This is my version and I was pretty happy with the outcome. But the pictures are not doing justice to the look. My camera has gone mad and it refused to listen to me. No matter what I do and how I set it, it changes into something else. Hence some pictures are too yellow, some too orange, some blurry and the rest weird.. Just like me ;)

Let me know in the comment section what you think about the look.

Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Cleansing Oil Review

$

0

Cleansing oil, we all know how dear these bottles of magical oils are to us. Whether you are an ardent follower of Korean double cleansing method or just want to melt off the day’s makeup, cleansing oils always come to our rescue.
I have been using ‘cleansing oil’ as a first cleanser for years now and by cleansing oil I mean my homemade ones. But recently, as I have become more conscious about skincare and aware of methods, I thought of getting a ‘proper’ cleansing oil. I have been a fan of Innisfree products and when I saw it on Nykaa at a whopping 50% off, I didn’t think twice before adding it to the cart…
So without any further ado, lets get into the nitty gritty details…

PACKAGING:-
It comes in a green translucent bottle with a pump dispenser. The advantage of being a semi-transparent bottle is that you can easily see the quantity of product left. There is also a pump dispenser guard or stopper which provides spill-free travel. You can toss it in your hand bag without any fear.

AVAILABILITY:-
Nykaa, Innisfree website and Innsifree stores across the country.

PRICE:-
Rs. 1,400/- for 150ml. I got it for Rs. 700 during discount.

WHY I STARTED USING IT:-
As I said, I got into double cleansing and was looking for a gentle first cleanser. Double cleansing is simple yet very effective, especially if you have makeup on.
Double cleansing has been an indispensible part of my life. It has really made a difference and helped in making my skin clearer, healthier and more radiant. And to double cleanse, an oil based cleanser is needed as your first cleanser. In my quest to find the perfect oil-cleanser, I bumped into this.

HOW I LOVE TO USE IT:-
I just dispense 1-2 pumps of it on my palm and then spread it across my dry face. I allow it to sit on my skin for about 2 minutes and then gently start massaging. Once I feel that the makeup has loosened, I wet my hands and massage again. Then I rinse up thoroughly and proceed with a gentle foam cleanser.

PERFORMANCE:-
It is an emulsifying, oil-based cleanser which intends to loosen and melt off your makeup, dirt and grime.  The product is non-sticky, runny, silky oil which will emulsify into a thin, milky lather upon coming in contact with water. The oil spreads easily and lubricates enough which means that you don’t have to put a lot of effort rubbing and spreading it. It has a crisp, refreshing fragrance which I love.
It beautifully breaks up and loosens makeup, even the waterproof ones.

See above, these are swatches of few of my most ‘removal-resistant’ makeup products and the oil took off almost all the makeup. The black eye liner which survived till last is a crazily stubborn one. No makeup remover till date has been able to wipe it off fully without effort. Thus I don’t even consider it as a part of the competition, yet was eager to see how this one works on it. Well, it needed a little effort but was removed.
Neither does the product leave any oil residue (even if I don’t foam cleanse afterwards), nor does it strip off the essential moisture from my skin. Basically an amazing product which is gentle on your skin and provides balanced moisturisation, just what we all need. It didn’t clog pores, cause any irritation, allergy or breakouts, instead leaves skin soft and supple.

DISSAPOINTMENTS:-
The product contains only 0.01% green tea extract. That’s cheating :P
Also it stings eyes. Be careful.

FINAL THOUGHTS:-
I am not a person who is into crazy-notorious-stubborn waterproof makeup and thus I love how easily and efficiently this product melts off everything, removes all the dirt and leaves skin squeaky clean and refreshed. So if you are a person who is into normal-wear makeup, this is going to work beautifully on you. If you wear waterproof makeup, you will just have to spend a little more time rubbing and massaging it.
The best part is the fragrance, it is so soothing and feels amazing at the end of the day.

Raw mango and summers are thick as thieves. In India, you can’t imagine summer without Aam pora sarbat, aam panna, aam pudina chutney and other kachha aam’ly things. So, to add to your mango madness this summer, lets add some fish to it.
Presenting, Aam Mourala.

It is a delicious sweet-tangy dish which tastes heavenly in these scorching summer days. It is very simple, yet totally lip-smacking. A favorite of mine, this dish like a time machine, takes me to the days of my childhood in our quaint central Kolkata home and enlivens my memory of the old house and old people, reminds me of my ‘tham’.
She used to cook something very similar to this and it refreshed the tired soul of the 8 year old me like nothing else.
Fine, no more blabbering, let us cook now :)

INGREDIENTS:-

  • Mourala Mach/ Anchovies – Cleaned, washed and marinated with salt
  • 2 medium sized Raw Mangoes- 1 sliced and 1 made into paste
(You can change the quantity as per your taste)
  • Mustard paste
  • Salt as per taste
  • Sugar as per taste
  • Mustard Oil
  • Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Dry red chilies

PROCEDURE:

Heat oil in a pan and start frying the fishes till then become golden and crispy.
Add water and let it come to boil.
In the same oil add jeera seeds and red chilies to splatter.
Now dunk in the sliced mangoes, sprinkle salt and turmeric.

Add the fried fishes, raw mango paste, mustard paste, sugar, mix well and cover up for 2 minutes.
Once the gravy thickens, turn off the flame, take out in a bowl and serve with steamed rice.

    Summer noon sorted!

Cannes Film festival may officially be all about film critics’ choice of awards and accolades, but to most of us, it is really about the stunning dresses and sizzling accessories on those famed French red-carpeted steps.
Fashion in Cannes Film Festival has become all about experiments. From dresses, accessories to makeup and hairstyle, celebrities never fail to leave us gaping, sometimes in awe and well, sometimes in wonder.

After the immense love I received on my Aishwarya Rai’s Cannes 2018 makeuprecreation, I thought of doing another inspired makeup, and this time it is Deepika Padukone’s. The leggy lass of Bollywood closed her 2018 Cannes Film Festival diaries making a bold fashion statement in an origami, frilly hot pink Ashi Studio couture and dramatic makeup.

I was in a double mind, whether to recreate or not (actually whether to get off my lazy bum and do something fruitful or not). But after seeing Anjana Di’s creation, I was like “Let’s Do It”.

    And, hence…

    Lets begin with ...

    EYES:-

The eye makeup is the center of all the attraction here.
I would recommend doing the eyes first, so that you can clean off the fall outs before doing the base.

I started by grooming my eyebrows and setting my eye lids with a skin color eye shadow.
Then I patted a matte black eye shadow on the center of my lids and blended well with a fluffy brush. I took the eye shadow past my eye area winging it out.
I swirled the same fluffy brush on a dark brown eye shadow and went to and fro on the crease, blending in with the black and winging it out just like the black.
Then taking a medium reddish brown on the fluffy brush, I went to and fro just above the crease on the wing, further extending it and also on the lower lash line.
(At this stage, everything looked so messy and funny with eye shadow fall outs all over my cheeks. This can happen with you too, so don’t panic. Using a wet wipe I cleaned off the excess and fall-outs, it started looking weirder.
Never mind, I went on with the look.)

I lined my waterline with a kohl and smudged it well.
On a pencil brush I took the same reddish brown eyeshadow and packed on the lower lash line again.
Applied highlighter on my brow bone and on the inner corners of my eyes and trust me, this step made all the difference.
Finally applied falsies and mascara to round off the look.
    Phew..!!

All my eye shadows are from Coastal Scents 252 eye shadow palette. The kohl is Lakme Eyeconic and mascara is L’OrealManga.

    REST OF THE MAKEUP:- :P
I had to clean up again because of the extreme fall outs. The black eye shadow is such a dud.
I did my base makeup with Cinema Secrets foundation. Color corrected and concealed using shades from Kryolan Derma pallet. My blush and contour powder is from Ben Nye Blush Palette and highlighter is actually an eye shadow by Deborah Milano.
    Lipstick is Yash by MAC.

Though not exactly how it was supposed to turn out, yet I was so happy with the final look, but the fallouts totally ruined my base. I had black eye shadow all over my cheeks and under eye area.
Anyway, don’t forget to let me know your thoughts in the comment section. Your words mean a lot :)

    Hello everyone,

Today I am here with a requested ‘celebrity inspired makeup’. I love creating celebrity inspired looks and love it even more when you appreciate it and love it even more and more when you request to create another celebrity inspired look; this shows your love for my work, your trust in me.

The look I’ll be doing today is “Sonam Kapoor’syellow eye makeup in Cannes”, that is how it is trending in social media. I personally loved the nude corset gown with that canary yellow train and how the eye makeup beautifully complemented it. Hair tied in a low messy bun, minimal accessories and pop of yellow on eyes, the look is summer goals.

    Well, here goes my version...

I won’t say that this is a recreation, as I have twisted and twirled the look as per my comfort. For example, the look doesn’t feature a cut crease, but I did, simply to make it more wearable. (Yes, I can wear a cut crease with ease, but not a pop of color which goes way past the crease. This is thus an inspired look where I have only borrowed the color palette and nothing else!

    So, let us begin…

    EYES:-

I prefer doing eyes first, so that if there are fall outs, I can always clean them off.

I started by grooming my eyebrows and setting my eye lids with a skin colored eye shadow, so that there are no oil residue left behind.
I took a brown colored eye shadow on a fluffy brush went to and fro on my crease, adding some depth to that area.
Swirled my finger on a matte black eye shadow and then just patted it on the outer corner of my eyes and blended well into the brown. Make sure you don’t take the black past the socket line.
Now with a flat brush dipped in concealer I gently cut my crease, filling the lid with the concealer. (See pic for reference)

Then came the most exciting part, packing the yellow eye shadow. I packed yellow eye shadow on the inner corners of my eyes and then took a shimmery white and applied on the center, to give a halo effect.
Highlighted my brow bone with the same shimmery white eye shadow.
Lined by waterline, took a black eye shadow on a smudger brush and smudged the kohl with it.

Finally false lashes and loads of kohl to finish off the look.
My eye shadows are from Coastal Scents 252 Eye shadow palette, the kohl is Lakme Eye Conic and mascara is Loreal Manga.

    BASE:-
My foundation, corrector and concealer are all from Kryolan Derma Pallet. This pallet is such a savior, a true beauty. I set the base with Sugar Cosmetics Compact. Blush and contour powder from Ben Nye Blush Palette. Highlighter is Benefit Highbeam.

    LIPS:-
I applied a pink lipstick and then topped it with a pink gloss. The lipstick is from Anastasia Beverly Hills lip palette and gloss is my Maybelline.

Time for a few more pictures... :)

Ignore the expressions. I was bored to death ....

Anyway, hope you all will like the look. But hate it or love it, don't forget to pour in your comments.

    The Blushing Bride: Adhya Purkayastha

They say that the best love is unexpected, when you least expect it and with the one you can never really imagine. Such is the story of our bride today. Adhya Purakayastha, she met her husband in a hospital. Life is not always easy, but that’s what makes us strong. Isn't? And thus the feeling of reaching your arm over and feeling someone beside you when you need him the most is unparalleled, indescribable.

Lets listen to her story in her own words…

    How did you guys meet?

--- We first met at Woodlands Hospital where my ailing and critically ill mother was undergoing treatment for mesenteric thrombosis. He wasn't in the team of doctors seeing my mother, yet surpassed his duties & made sure I didn't crumble under such horrid situations. I lost my mother during this but I believe it's her blessings that I found a gem of a person and my life partner at a place where you least expect it.

So how long did you get to plan your entire wedding?
--- It took us roughly 7-8 months to plan things. One of the first things we did was to book Kenilworth Hotel Lawns for our Venue followed by the Bridal Makeup Artist and the Wedding Photographer cum Cinematographer. We planned everything on our own so it took us more time than usual.

Tell us something about where you got your outfits and accessories, both wedding and reception?
--- I chose to go the traditional way for my Wedding Day on 1st of February, 2018 and wore a dark red heavily embroidered Banarasi that we bought from Adobe Dhakeshwari Bastralayin Triangular Park. The coordinating veil was carefully selected after a lot of trials, we found the largest variety at Priyo Gopal Bishoyi in Gariahat. The groom's wedding outfit was from Gatha and the pattabastra (traditional clothes worn during the rituals) were from Kinnar Kinnari. Our shoes were from Hamlyn.

For reception, my mother in law bought a beautiful yellow, gold and fuchsia Mysore Silk from Nahata Textiles in Silchar. The saree was my husband's choice and it was love at first sight for him, I couldn't agree more as it was gorgeous without being heavy.

My ornaments were mostly heirloom, from my mother as well as my mother-in-law. The peacock set I wore on my reception was gifted to me by my mother-in-law from P.C. Chandra Jewellers. Most of my bangles were from Tanishq and Senco Gold.

Where did you get your makeup and hair done?
--- After very detailed research and many sleepless nights, I had zeroed in on Sheetal Dey Makeovers for my D Day and I was lucky that I could book her without any date issues. She did an absolutely fabulous job and I wouldn't swap her for anyone else. More than anything, her behaviour and eye for detail were something that set her apart. It was a wonderful experience.

Tell us something about your photographer?
---We zeroed down on Dilshaadi for our Wedding Photography and Videography. Though their work is brilliant, can't say the same about their quality of service and punctuality. It was a tough time coordinating with them and there wasn't much of pro activity from their end. Overall, the service left a lot to be desired and for the price we paid, we could have certainly had a better experience.

Any special moment you want to share with us?
---The most special moment from our Wedding was when we first saw each other on the Stage after 3 long days of not seeing each other except for WhatsApp Video Calls. I could almost see a parental pride in my man's eyes and something in the heart of my hearts told me that nothing & no one could protect and love me the way this man right here would - I had never felt that way before, it was exhilarating to say the least.

Any advice you want to all the readers out there?
---- Anything permanent isn't easy and weddings come with their fair share of stress. Don't let that bog you down. We all have made through it and you shall too. Choose your Venue, Wedding Photographer and Makeup Artist wisely; make sure that the venue and photographer are the first things you zero down on once your date is fixed & be sure to formally book them. Enjoy the planning cause the months leading to your Wedding would be memories to cherish forever.

    DECKandDINE says:-
She is the bride we see on magazine cover pictures. Absolutely stunning. Love the smokey eyes, love the sultriness of the look. The smokey eyes and red Benarasi combo is smashing and I just can’t take my eyes off her pictures. I love her reception look as well, classy and elegant. Also, I can’t really get over her tresses. So so beautiful.

Wishing you both a lifetime of greatest joy, love and happiness. Much love :)

Quick and Easy Makeup Tutorial for Eid 2018

You know what is the most loved benefit of taking a social media sabbatical? It is all your messages that I receive when I get back. The love, the care that you all have for me is so immensely satisfying. I might not have a million followers, my blog might not have a million readers, but you wonderful people who have always showered your love on me, guided me, praised me, have been the driving force to my humble efforts, you all are so close to my heart. Whenever I vanish, you message or mail me, enquiring about my whereabouts and that’s what keeps me going.

Anyway, coming back to today’s post, Farhana, a reader of my blog, requested for a simple, yet glamorous Eid makeup look. I am currently having a serious ‘lack of ideas’ issue, feeling disengaged and demotivated. Moreover, my skin is not in her best mood. She is puffed up, itchy and is literally burning. So I just apologized and told her that I won’t be able to do any. I also send her a few links of my favorite Eid special looks of other bloggers. But the stubborn girl she is, she kept on badgering me for days until I finally gave in. Girl, you are very difficult, but I love it. Thanks for being there and trusting my work, thanks for loving and supporting me.
So, Farhana, this post is for you :)

Usually I prefer doing my eyes first, so that if there are fallout, I can easily clean them off. But for this look, I have done my base before, simply because this look is more of a heavy kohl smudged eye makeup with light wash of eye shadow and I needed the perfectly done canvas before doing it. But it is totally up to you, you can do eyes first and the base later or the other way.

    EYE MAKEUP BREAKDOWN:-

Start by grooming your eyebrows and setting eye lids with a skin color eye shadow.
Now take your favorite kohl and start lining the lower lash line, thicken and extend the line on the outer corner.
Take brown eyes shadow on a smudge brush and smudge the kohl. Line the waterline again to have a crisp look.
Moving on to the lid, apply a shimmery champagne on the center of your lid. You can change the lid color as per your wish.

Take a small brush and swirl it over a dark brown eye shadow and trace it on the crease following your socket line.
Taking a lighter brown on the fluffy brush, go to and fro on the crease and outer corner.
The next step is optional, but takes the eye makeup to a completely different level. Add a thin line of glitter liner just on the inner socket line.
Apply highlighter on your brown bone and inner corner of your eyes and coats of mascara
    to round off the look.

The eye shadows are from Morphe 25B palette. Kohl is Lakme Eyeconic, mascara is Benefit They’re Real and the glitter liner is Miss ClairePearl liner in 16. This glitter liner is very hard to work with... :(

    REST of the MAKEUP:-
Do your base as you would usually do. Make sure you correct and conceal wherever needed. I skipped contouring and went with a swirl of peachy blush on each cheek. Also I dusted some highlighter on the bride of my nose and cheekbones. That’s my favorite part.

For lips, what else than matte red lips?

So that’s it. I hope you all like it and Farhana, I hope your ‘problem’ is solved now.. :p
Don't forget to tag me in if you recreate the look, would love to see.
Eid Mubarak everyone, enjoy the day and may your homes and hearts be filled with the joyful spirits of Eid. .. :)

    The Blushing Bride: Ankhi Nath

    Hello everyone,
It’s my favorite day again and I am super excited to bring you another beautiful Bengali Bride and her bridal story. This section means so much to me, not only because we are able to share stories about real life brides to give you some serious inspiration, but also because it gives me an immense pleasure to see the brides glow on their special days. The feeling I get while going through their stories, their pictures of blossoming from girl to bride is truly overwhelming.

Today on “Blushing Brides” we have a very pretty lady with us, Ankhi Nath. Her wedding had a mix of classics and trends and she was literally glowing with happiness.
    Let us have a look.

    How did you guys meet?
“6 years back, I was attending a friend's wedding where Sid had come too. We spoke for a brief moment and I left. Sid and I were friends in a huge group. For him it was love at first sight, but for some funny reasons, he was friend-zoned for years before I finally couldn't resist so many years of dedication. Things took their own turn and I'm his partner in crime, legally. :D”

So how long did you get to plan your entire wedding?
    “About a year.”

Tell us something about where you got your outfits and accessories, both wedding and reception?
The wedding morning look was fresh and simple. There was no make up and only eye liner on the upper lash.

My wedding look was entirely self-designed. On my wedding, I satiated Sid's fascination for a red saree but paired it up with violet and ink blue to cut the monotony. The benarasiwas from Benarasi Kuthi, College Street and everything else was handpicked from local shops by me and tailored according to needs.

For the reception party, I wore a very light sea green kanjivaram from Indian silk house and designed the blouse in contrast. My ornaments were traditional gold but my head dresses were designed especially for the occasions.

I imported a princess crown for my reception and got an Indian tiara with a European touch made by my artist cousin.”

Where did you get your makeup and hair done?
“Make up by Samitavo Deb and hair by Sandhya di/ Bithi Ray from his team."

Tell us something about your photographer?
“Team Dilshaadiare good friends and did a great job with the album. I'm so happy with their work at all my wedding occasions and would recommend them for sure.”

Any special moment you want to share with us?
“I'm spoilt for choice here. I'll give you some highlights. First of all, the groom arrived driving a Mahindra Thar to the wedding. I loved the idea because what better off-roading than getting married right? The bride in the driver's seat was quite fun too. The groom and baraat had to dance with the band baaja for 1 hour outside the wedding venue because the bride's mother was dressing up.

Some friend pushed a paneer kebab through a wire stuck out of Sid's topor (headgear).

Finally, talking about THE MOMENT, I was held up in the sky during maala bodol.
No. Not near the boys' shoulders or chest but high up close to the stand of fairy lights with their hands stretched out perpendicular to the ground. Next, Sid was made to stand upright on his friends' shoulders. We were up in the sky and I was slanging the hell out of Sid for trying to take support from me up in the air. I went like "Jodu! Bhalo hobe na kintu!"

Now during shidur daan, because we were tying the knot in the early evening and I still had a long show to pull off, I had threatened my beloved to not spoil my make up with shidur. On the other side, our friends went on shouting "naake e na porle bhalobasha teke na" ("unless vermilion touches the nose, the love won't last"). Torn in between the two, my worried boyfriend took 3 turns to become my husband and yet I never looked married once the tiara was back on. I still tell him, morning shows the day, so I don't wear shidur anymore. :P
The wedding went on like a storm but we danced, boozed and jammed all night with a hall full of friends. These monsters flew down from all parts of the world because for both sides of friends, it was the first wedding of the clan. So if someone sponsors the ceremony, I would absolutely get married again! In short, my wedding with a week of pre wedding hullabaloo, was one big party that lasted long! I hope the party lasts till I do. :)”

How is a long distance marriage working out?
“It's easier said than done. It's easier for me being married to a trusted friend though and not someone new. Plus Sid stays away for a few months and then I get him without even a work call... all to myself for months.

I'd say long distance is almost physically painful at times. The heart pains. Obviously, for this kind of a relationship, you about have to be in love with yourself and your own world. Busy and occupied, you'll see time flashing by sooner.
After staying apart for a few months, I usually receive him at the airport without letting ANYONE know at home and spend a day at a resort before coming home to everyone else. We pose it like his surprise comeback :D. I mean, how many married couples would do that? Or video call each other, smile as we text in between work and write mails? To women who are into long distance relationships, if you can handle yourself with a little bit of strength for some time, that meeting at the airport can be more romantic than a standard candle light dinner. For now, I'm finding it romantic and fresh, every time he comes back and every time we miss each other. As they say, for a sailor and his girl, 10 years of marriage is actually 5.”

    DeckandDine says:-

You emit such positive energy lady, which can be felt even through your pictures. I am totally awed. I can never imagine experimenting with my wedding look, but you, you totally nailed it woman. You have got your styling game on point. The choice of a lehenga complemented with a traditional red Benarasi added a touch of fusion and I absolutely loved the perfect blend of Bengali and Western elements, very sassy. You were as fresh as a daisy and as sweet as honey on your mehndi ceremony and absolutely stunning on your wedding day. You looked resplendent and seemed so relaxed and enjoyed each and every moment of the event thoroughly, unfortunately which I couldn’t, and will always regret it.

You made a very beautiful and happy bride, Ankhi and your smile says it all. There was not one moment where I didn’t see your face without a smile or a blush.

Lastly, wishing you and Siddharth a
lifetime of love and happiness. May you always have that smile on your face. God bless! :)
